Mexico - 24 - Flamingos & Mangroves–Exploring Celestún, Mexico’s wild s...

Join me on an unforgettable day trip from Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico to the coastal town of Celestún, famous for its flamingo tours and mangrove lagoons. 🚤🦩

Starting from Hotel Mucuy in Mérida (La Ciudad Blanca – The White City) with my rented scooter from Scooter Rentals Mérida – Merida-up.com, I set off without a booked tour and headed straight to the wide, beautiful Celestún beach. There I quickly found a local guide who arranged a motorboat tour.

Out on the lagoon, I was lucky to spot a flock of pink flamingos feeding in the shallow waters, stretching their long necks down into the water. 🦩✨

We then cruised slowly through peaceful mangrove channels, where large birds took flight as we passed by. On the way back, we stopped far out in the lagoon at a shallow sandbank, perfect for a refreshing swim – standing in knee-deep water even far from the shore was magical! 🌊

Mexico - 23 - Mexico’s Natural Pools–Exploring the Santa Bárbara Cenotes!

Today I’m experiencing one of the most magical adventures in Yucatán, Mexico – visiting cenotes near Mérida and watching the incredible Mayan ball game Pok-ta-Pok! 🛵🌊

I started my journey from Hotel Mucuy in Mérida (La Ciudad Blanca) with a rented scooter from Scooter Rentals Mérida – Merida-up.com. My destination: Santa Bárbara Cenotes, home to 4 unique swimming holes.

First was Cenote Xooch’, absolutely heavenly and picture-perfect. Then Cenote Chaksinkin, featuring stalactites that created deep echoing sounds like an organ. The third, Cenote Cascabel, was raw and cave-like with giant tree roots reaching inside. Finally, Cenote Pool Cocom – an open, lush cenote with dramatic cliffs and vegetation. 🌴✨

On the way back, I admired the stunning yellow Iglesia de San José de la Montaña in Eknakán.

At night in Mérida’s Plaza Grande, I witnessed Pok-ta-Pok, the ancient Mayan ball game, performed in front of the cathedral with all its rituals and history – a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Mexico - 22 - Exploring Izamal – Mexico’s magical yellow city!

Join me on a colorful day trip in Yucatán, Mexico! 🚀 From my stay at Hotel Mucuy in Mérida (La Ciudad Blanca – The White City), I rented a scooter at Scooter Rentals Mérida – Merida-up.com and headed out to the stunning town of Izamal, known as La Ciudad Amarilla – The Yellow City. Almost every building in the center is painted yellow, and it’s truly breathtaking! 🌟

I explored the iconic Convento de San Antonio, visited the beautiful Capilla de San Ildefonso (a hidden Instagram-worthy spot), and climbed the Kinich Kak Moo Pyramid, one of the largest Maya ruins in the region, with epic views from the top. 🏛️✨

On my way back, I stopped in Cacalchén for a delicious Marquesita – the perfect Yucatán street food snack!

Back in Mérida, I ended the day with a magical light show at the Mérida Cathedral, telling the city’s history through sound and projection.

Mexico - 21 - Scootering to Uxmal – Exploring ancient Maya ruins in Mexico

Join me on an unforgettable adventure in Merida, Yucatan – the stunning “White City” of Mexico! 🌴

Today I planned a chill day at Hotel Mucuy, but things took an exciting turn. I rented a scooter from Scooter Rentals Merida (Merida-up.com) and headed to Uxmal, one of the most impressive Maya ruins in Yucatan

The site was much grander than I imagined, with massive pyramids, historic ball courts, and breathtaking ancient architecture. 🏛️

On the way back, drama struck – I ran out of gas on my scooter! 😱 I had to walk 2 km on the main road before finding a gas station. Eventually, I made it back safely and celebrated with a relaxing tequila. 🍹
