Looking back to when I was two weeks in Guanajuato, Mexico, studying Spanish at the amazing Escuela Mexicana, a school filled with great teachers, plenty of classrooms, and rooftop study spots with beautiful views. Most days I study in the morning and explore the city in the afternoon.
But today is Sunday — a day off. I sleep in, then head out on foot toward one of Guanajuato’s most famous and controversial attractions: the Mummy Museum (Museo de las Momias).
To get there, I walk through the charming city and continue up a long steep road and finally I’m outside the center.
The museum is a powerful experience. The preserved bodies are real — not models or art — and seeing them brings up a lot of feelings. It's haunting, strange, and oddly human. Would I want to be on display forever? I'm not sure. But it’s definitely a visit I’ll never forget.
